TSX Market Direction Outlook For July 16 2014

The outlook for Tuesday was for stocks to move higher. Instead the TSX lost ground amid testimony from US Fed chair Janet Yellen who indicated interest rates could move higher sooner rather than as expected in the early part of 2015 but with unemployment still at unacceptable levels, she left open the possibility that rates could still stay historical low. Meanwhile gold pulled back another $11 and oil fell below $100. The latter two hit sectors of the commodity heavy TSX and pushed the index lower by almost 90 points.
