Friday March 11, saw the TSX Composite Index rally hard at the open and the drift higher on lighter volume.

TSX Composite Index Rises 142.86 Points

Friday morning opened with a bounce in stocks which took the index to 13475 on high volume and strong momentum. By 9:42 momentum had died but the index held its gains. The brought in some tepid buying which increased the gain to above 13475 by 11:00 AM. There were two dips in the morning on light volume. Both of them failed to touch the 13450 valuation. The second dip failed to break lower and that brought in more buyers. The TSX Composite Index moved higher and by the noon hour it was at 13500. This is resistance for the TSX Composite Index but stocks did not seem to have much trouble. By 2:00 PM the index was above 13525 and set the intraday high of 13,543.29 before falling slightly into the close. The close was a gain of 1.07% to close at 13,522.00. This means on Monday the TSX Composite Index will start the day on Monday at resistance.

TSX Composite Index Momentum

Momentum which spiked at the open, turned flat within half an hour of the open and stay flat with a slight bias up, for the rest of the day.
