Here are closing comments and a market outlook after the close today regarding today’s 1.28% decline today in the TSX Composite Index.
TSX Composite Index Falls 188.84 Points
The big decline on Friday was primarily caused by mining, materials and energy stocks, with a bit of weakness in financial stocks primarily from Bank Of Nova Scotia.
Agnico Eagle Mines (AEM) fell over 8% today to $57.19 as gold futures were down over 3.29% for a drop of 41.70 to end the day at 1224.70 which is rather bearish for gold once again.
US Dollar Climbed
The US dollar moved higher against the Loonie again today and this is really hampering commodity prices. Crude was down over 3% with WTI futures closing at $43.24.
