One of the stocks that has performed exceptionally well all year for me has been ATT Stock. The stock has provided substantial returns this year. In many ways it has been better than many speculative stocks investors email me about primarily because it has a strong dividend that has little if any chance of being cut and it continues to grow its base of operations in the USA.
Lately though a number of articles are pointing to weak cash flow for AT&T Stock as the company has continued to expand operations at the cost of its available cash flow. These articles are warning that the company’s next quarterly report will be substantially different from the prior 4 quarters and the stock could tumble. Myself, I am not as concerned as these analysts are but it is always worthwhile to take a look and see what could happen should they be right and the stock tumbles.
ATT Stock Chart – 6.7 Decline
The stock is definitely having trouble. Now down 6.7%, ATT Stock is pressuring the Lower Bollinger Band throughout the prior week. Meanwhile momentum remains strongly negative for the stock.
ATT Stock 3 Year Chart
The three-year chart shows further problems as the stock is setting up a pattern of lower highs and has failed to recover the highs from 2012 and 2013. As well you can see that in 2014 the trading range is narrowing which often indicates a break one way or the other will occur. Presently the odds appear that a break could be lower for the stock rather than higher.
So where does this leave investors such as myself who have made terrific profits for the past several years in AT&T Stock and what trading strategies should investors be considering for the next several months as AT&T Stock decides which direction to head?
