Suncor Energy Stock (SU) Trades For 2014 Update – End of 2014

Suncor Energy Stock entered my Canadian portfolio for the first time in June of 2014. Suncor Stock trades on both the TSX and New York. Suncor Stock trades are being done on the Toronto Stock Exchange in Canadian dollars.

This stock also trades on New York but the spread of the options is too wide in my opinion for consistently profitable trades. I prefer to trade this company on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

Suncor Stock – 13.8% Return For 7 Months

All trades ended profitably in Suncor Stock for 2014. I will be carrying this stock into 2015 despite the decline in oil. I am expecting volatility to remain high in oil related stocks and as such I am looking for another good year in Suncor Stock. I started trading Suncor Stock late in 2014, commencing in June. Over the 7 month period I earned 13.8% against capital in use. Most of the time capital in use rarely moved above $36,000 at any given month. Toward the end of the year however I had placed more capital into the trade as I liked the put premiums and felt that Suncor Stock would recover from the oil price decline or at least handle it quite well, which it has.

This trade update is available to Canada members. Members should consider reviewing the trades for the year. Only 10 trades were done and yet it is surprising how easy it was to time entries and pick appropriate strike levels for selling and trading.
