Abbott Labs Stock has had a bit of a tough year to date. The stock commenced 2016 opening at $43.94. It then spent all of January falling, reaching $36 on Jan 28. The stock rallied in February, March and April. By April 20 Abbott Labs Stock had reached an intraday high of $44.58.
Earnings and St Jude Purchase Dropped Abbott Labs Stock
On that day the company reported earnings that failed to excite investors. Five days later the stock commenced a decline on April 28 when Abbott announced its decision to buy St. Jude for $25 billion. Investors in Abbott Labs Stock were less than impressed with the decision and the capital required. The stock fell lower, reaching $36.89 on May 19.
