Thanks, Teddi, have been rolling them for months now, and in fact managed to just get out of 2 positions last month on expiry. I would own LVS if assigned, but hopefully not at these levels! Patience is the key here, I think.

@jbinformed: I managed to close said March $50 put at $0.22 today. 50% profit in one day, I’ll take it!

Had a BTC for 0.05 that executed this morning.

Seeing value after a 12% decline in the stock YTD, Deutsche upgrades AMX to Buy from Hold, with price target lifted to $90 from $88.

I have existing stock and naked put positions. Added to the March $50 strike at $0.48 – couldn’t believe I could sell that strike! Stock has been doing horribly for the last year or so though. Still holding on to deep ITM $70 puts :(

Yeah, I didn’t enter a position after rethinking the situation. Plus I am traveling today. Kind of. Looks like I am spending the nt in Atl airport.

Well, from what I can see with the chart, it was $96 at 12:00, then apparently on CNBC there was quite an energized discussion regarding MCD buying SHAK, and the whole panel got excited and the stock began to move. Of course the MM will take advantage of that and suck in as many people as they can, so short term I will wait and see if it holds. Yes, I can always turn it into a covered call, but with so much time before 3/20, I suspect there will be a pull back. Fortunately I didn’t do a big number, so I will work it out.

YEA, OOOPS. Gotta figure out a way to get outta this one, but I have time. Hedge funds buying….hard to imagine that’s enough to move the stock, but so it is. MCD buying SHAK rumor? IDK….ODD.

Traders are betting that Intel will reach its highest level since the dot-com bust.

More than 10,800 May 38 calls were purchased for $0.18 to $0.29 yesterday, according to optionMONSTER’s Heat Seeker tracking program. Volume was well above the strike’s previous open interest of 2,679 contracts, indicating that this is fresh buying.

These long calls lock in the price where the stock can be purchased through mid-May no matter how far it might climb. They could be sold earlier at a profit if premiums rise with a rally before then, providing potentially significant leverage, but the contracts will expire worthless if shares remain below $38. (See our Education section)

Intel has not traded above $38 since February 2001. The closest it came was its recent high of $37.90 last December, so yesterday’s call buyers are looking for new 14-year highs.

INTC rose 1.93 percent to $34.41 yesterday. The chip giant has been trading sideways since gapping down from the $36 level on Jan. 27 after Microsoft cited slowing PC sales in its quarterly results.

Total option volume in the name was just shy of 104,000 contracts yesterday, triple its daily average for the last month. Overall calls outpaced puts by more than 2 to 1.

well, I take THAT comment back. Meg Whitman looked like she just lost her sister. IMO she didn’t do her company a service by coming on CNBC this AM.
    Be careful.

I would guess not that high. 200 day is $36, pre-market higher than it was last night.

Yes, too early. I bought APR $16 calls on 2/12 ($3.80), 2/13 ($3.40), and 2/20 ($2.78), avg cost $3.33. Do you think I should buy back the 1st block and roll them out to May $16 calls?
    P.S. I am re-reading the “10 mistakes to avoid” article! :)
    Thanks!

Teddi, I already closed my initial sale of calls on MCD. Would you think it a good idea to sell again, although the price is now down to .60 for the same strike?

Excellent article on XOM Teddi. I did my own weekly trade with the $87.5 strike, and it seems to be holding, although with oil, you never know!

Sorry to bother you, but do we know if all the chart that were posted are gone for good?

    Hi Teddi,

Can you provide some specifics as why you would not trade Ralph Lauren? It will be educational for me; and hopefully others.

I really appreciate and have learned so much from your Fullyinformed site. -And looking forward to learning more.

    Best.

    Sure David,

Say I sell 20 CC’s on VLCCF at the $10 strike. If it quickly rises to 11.50 I have to buy all 20 contracts back and then roll into a higher strike at a (usually)loss.
If I had only sold 13 calls when the stock jumped up I could have added some of the calls I held back to the 13 I sold and rolled up for a profit.

    Example;
2.26.14…STO 14 calls at the 12.50 strike for March expiry
3.17.14…with stock at 14.22 I could roll all 14 calls into April AT A LOSS
What I did was add 4 calls to the total. I then bought the 13 back and sold 17 calls AT 15 for April at a small profit.

Another idea would be to buy back 3 of the ITM calls and then roll the entire amount into the next time period.

    good trading.

bavage: I hoe you dont mind, but could you explain why holding a few back would help in rolling to save the trade….maybe give an example.

    Thanks
