Go to this site, they even have a live chat that you can ask questions and a pletora of other info. One thing to remember is options are a zero sum transaction meaning for each seller there must be a buyer at the time the option contract is bought or sold. The buyer of the option is in contol and has the right to exercise his option at anytime prior to expiry

Amy it looks like the miss in fact was priced in, and it was priced in more aggressively than what STX actually underperformed by. In a day that they announced they missed the stock closed up. Maybe that’s the bottom. Fingers crossed

Amy, I might time it wrong, but a lot of biotechs keep hitting new highs and priced at huge valuations, It’s already up 40% ytd, will it hit 50% in a month? Anything is possible in bio world. Perhaps I can learn how to play it better next time.

STX warns this morning! Down to $45. Maybe today will be the day the miss is “priced in”…..

I was so wrapped up in trading BIDU last week I put PKG on hold….argh, now I can only either hope it rallies today or I am going to have to roll out and down and deal with earnings which will give me a higher premium but more risk!

Kevinj: you are a brave man! $1.50 doesn’t seem like enough premium for a month of “bio-time”, but I will probably join you closer to August. I got stuck selling puts on XBI a month out and was squashed like a bug, so I am leery about going out on bio that far:)

Wrightflyer—-> Don’t forget you have earnings in the way, and this is the quarter that they should raise the divvy. If you believe that a miss is built in, then your best option might be to roll out past earnings and add to the number of puts you have to increase your return.

Tough choice going into earnings, but it does seem to be built in to the price….famous last words! That’s what I have done, so I am with you on an STX issue:)

Sunday’s news seems to indicate that a Greece/EU agreement just may be possible, but it if so it is going to be a big loss of face for Tsipras, and tough for the Greek people. I exited all my Futures positions due to all the uncertainty and didn’t want to have lots of gaping going on when the Futures markets opened again Sunday evening. But… nothing resolved yet.

The Chinese market has had a rebound from large losses, especially the high tech companies and the CNXT etf (“Chinese NASDAQ”). I have held on to a few Chinese stocks during the downturn, some of which like Baidu (BIDU) I still believe in. However, it is clear that there is an overall downturn in Chinese sentiment which is affecting other markets, and currencies like the Australian dollar. But lots of government “intervention” is going on in Chinese markets so it’s hard to know if that is the sole reason for the rebound…

Well a week has past and the Greek situation is far worse and the Chinese markets are worse yet. On this side of the water we seem to be doing better. Last week we had a computer glitch at the NYSE and the media made it seem as though the world was coming to an end. The truth is that the stock exchanges, in the west, worked flawlessly. The NYSE went down and orders were automatically routed to other exchanges for execution and all were executed.
My belief is not to focus on the near term. Follow the trends, invest in companies that you want to own. . . they will lead you to prosperity.

I went five minutes into that ad for some sort of brisket sales and gave up. I understand that these guy’s want to make money promoting other companies, but that was just absurd.
I don’t doubt that that there may have been something of value in the clip, but they lost me, long before they made their point and I’m a patient guy. I say this with a smile. They just made me too hungry to watch their nonsense any further. I’m headed for the kitchen.

I need some advice from the more experienced people on here please. I sold the July 31 $49 put that I talked about a few posts back. I waited way too long to roll now the stock price is trading at $45.95.

I am going to roll my option but I want advice about if I should roll out or out AND down.

To buy back the $49 July 31 put it will cost me $3.95. I can then either: sell the August 21 $49 put for $4.50, netting me $.55. Or I can sell the August 28th $48 put for $3.95, netting me $0 however I will have moved my put from $49 to $48.

What would yall do? Take the $.55 profit which is 1% for the month but have the put be a 49 still or move lower to $48 put but earn $0 for the month?

I contacted TOS yesterday about the DD/CC confusion. As was stated a couple of times earlier in this thread the option statement under DD: 100(CC20)AUG15 67.5 PUT means if you are assigned you will get 100 DD shares & 20 CC shares all at 67.5. I thought the calculation to determine if you are ITM or not was interesting. For the option above the calculation would be (100 X Price DD + 20 X Price CC)/100. This would be compared to the strike price 67.5.

Odd thing happened: On 6/16 in my IRA I sold 10 KO puts, strike $39.50 expiring Friday. So I was assigned 300, and 600 expired. Never had that happen before. Closed at $39.49, so I guess some didn’t want it. I sold the assigned 300 this AM at $39.60, then re-sold 10 Puts, strike July 17, $39.50 @ .36.

If these expire, I will have almost 2% in a month on KO! But in this market, July 17 is a long time away!

I also have a set in my regular account of KO same strike for July 17. Don’t even know if this was a Teddi call, but if not, it has ben in the past:)
