    Hi Teddi,

As for NKE, I just closed my NKE put for pennies and making great profit on shares bought in retirement and TFSA (tax free savings) accounts.

NKE was on sale. I will probably keep writing puts as long as the sale is on.

    Teddi,

Your 8 stocks for xmas are interesting in that TGT and PKG are shorts (via short calls) in 2016 when they are high BB with 100% positive results. NKE I got in before the earnings because I saw DOW up 15% and NKE down 18% so I saw NKE at 33% on sale.

PRU a new one for me which I will look to see if right for me.

I am leaning more towards bear call spreads in this market and there are more high candidates than low and spreads protect from takeover. What do you think?

    thanks
    Denis

Your remembered. I have been using IB since August and have done well but not as well as I should have . 1. It is easy to make mistakes as they are not a user friendly as TD Active trader so no cover button and defaults to BUY instead of SELL (dangerous when doing short puts as I usually do). 2. The fills are not as advantageous as TD (I think if you place market , IB usually gives the bid or ask instead of some mid figure). 3. Because of such low commissions (50% to 75% cheaper than TD and no assignment fees vs 15-43 at TD), I did some larger trades I would not have done at TD and they expensive options commissions of 1$ per).

On the other hand, commissions are great if you do same trades as TD. Just harder to do.

    Hi Teddi

The difference this year I have seen is indicated by your use of more exotic trades like IC and reverse IC. I had thought you used a lot of strategies like Wanderers, BB, … instead of complicated trades. You are correct to use what works for you and I do – short puts for earning and to get stocks cheaper and spreads (I did one strangle on SCO).

thanks Teddi, and rest of y’all for chiming in,

Kikib – I did great this yea, best by far but me too, if I stayed away from UVXY, SCO and SPXS, would have done even better.

Tom, Me too CC (in my RRSP) has added $ nicely and synthetic puts, I am playing with it to simulate CSP in same RRSP.

Sorry David, Canadian TaxFreeSavingAccount that we are not allowed CSP or I would have done the same I did in the trading account. Same with our retirement account, no CSP or I would have made much more this year (my best yet by far).

“I was completely unprepared for how the market reacted after the election. For the first 2 hours it was great, then everything that wasn’t supposed to happen did!”

thanks, you were not the only one surprised and this crazy market keeps going up and up so my UVXY and SPXS are underwater as well as SCO all via short puts.

I don’t know what you are looking at but am surprised at the opportunities and premiums we have been seeing in spite of the VIX being so low. I have been doing 2-3 new short puts daily. I get in trouble when I do trades outside of this like a recent SCO short strangle and trying to time NFLX weekly

Teddi is correct that weekly premiums have been pretty good which I have been doing with NFLX but on Thursday or early Friday when premium decay accelerates. This one is my 2016 WP that I learned from Teddi to replace GOOG last year and AAPL the year before.

Keep at it, it is lucrative.

I did tax selling on SKX just before it bounced this week dammit. I expected it to go to 20ish but then an upgrade and a CEO purchase happened!!! Oh well, still my best year ever (by far).

I got some stock (TFSA) and puts on this dip yesterday. My first Visa x’n. A few candidates down like this (KSU, Loblaws (TSX), SBUX, V, and MDT) that I never got in before.

I have the 88CC expire this week so will expire probably. Will maybe roll to the next week or 2 or wait for a bounce to sell Dec 16.

I hadn’t seen your post after earnings. thanks. My 500 are in an RRSP and on bounce, will do a CC as you don’t seem to think it will bounce much.

    Hi David

Hard to say. I still prefer my TD charts for now as I am not comfortable with IB charts yet.

I have made more errors with the IB platform than the TD one.

With smart routing, I find my fills are harder at IB to get but that might be just a perception.

Still the savings in commissions makes it all worthwhile.

I closed my FB puts at 80% earned yesterday (that 117P) as I don’t see it going much higher until higher earnings next season or if you think the market making new highs.

I guess you are fortunate with this increase in FB lately and looks like another rise today.

If you have a small account, 2000 shares of FB must be most of your account. That is against what Teddi states, not to go all in , in one stock. Tech is always risky. Also I am bearish with the market making new highs again and doing CC on a few of my holdings as a result. I am being careful and also more and more in cash again.

Good luck with your other shares and thanks for the answer to my comment.

Aby, Why did you get in on a high flyer so high? I was writing puts at 80 then in the 105 and 110 but after that, I left alone as seemed too high even for Facebook.

Now I am back in at 117P for next week expiry but probably close early or roll the 117 forward a couple of weeks. Premiums are rich for a reason.

There are so many great companies that keep coming down in ranges – PFE, WBA, KSU, PEP, KO, BMY … at this time, why go after stocks when priced to perfection?

My 2 cents worth 1 cent.

Thanks for the note as it made me look at the chart and it looks great if you are a BB chartist. I may write a few contracts depending on further research and confirming earning release.

Do you know why the steady 3 month drop in price from 80’s to 60’s?

I do both depending on strikes and premiums (usually better and easier fills on options in US BUT wide strike prices).

Also can be used to move can – US $ between accounts with no currency commissions (look up Norbert’s Gambit).
