I don’t get it, UBER IPO is coming and so best in breed and I don’t see making money in a ling time. Citron should be short all over it but if Citron is bullish. not time to short either. Also when they start blaming shorts for their poor business model, then that usually means they are in trouble.
nnarkar – I don’t think Teddi needs your defense. I learned a lot from Teddi but she is doing some stocks that I would not touch as I guess she needs to constantly have ideas for a growing list of followers. She used to do mostly big caps and take chances on the FB of the world.
hache02ParticipantI did my first RTN trade as FA & TA looked good for a dividend capture trade. Since earnings are April 24, I would do a DITM buy-write to gte .94+ dividend AND 1.50 extrinsic for a 35% ROI.
I had not read your take on RTN but looks real good.
I closed WMT, MS and USB past 24 hrs.
hache02ParticipantThis is the worse IPO since SNAP. I have short spreads on SNAP and looking likewise for LYFT when Teddi buys more lol.
hache02ParticipantYes spreads were awful in December. Good rules to follow.
Tough to trade Canadian stocks via options as the premiums and volume are no where near as good as in the US. This is why a lot of my trading is in the US and luckily for me, I converted a lot of my cash into US $$$ when our $$$ was above par.
hache02ParticipantTeddi,
IWM is many securities and prevents a company specific black swan to overwhelm your portfolio.
That being said, IWM is mid size and thus riskier than what I trade, big cap usually. That is why I have been trying S&P index to improve.
IDK if using an index will get you to 12% as this fellow wants. Less black swan risk = lower ROI (IMO).
hache02ParticipantTeddi,
What will be in this CC tool? I am doing more and more CC so I am intrigued!
thanks
hache02ParticipantTeddi,
10 150/165 spreads = 15000 of risk less the 390 premium received, right? Not 10,000 of risk.
A friend and I are doing put spreads on FB but tight (2$ spread = 2000$ of risk slightly OTM.
Denis
hache02ParticipantI closed for 6 cents even though way OTM now. Paid for xmas (1000$ profit).
hache02ParticipantI have not been in FB since it was under 110 but couldn’t resist this week – tight weekly spread
I did 10 130/128 for .46 yesterday and did another 10 128/126 for .60. I didn’t realize that the 128 would cancel and so ended up with 20 130/126 for 1.06 for this week. I am ready to roll to next week if need be.
hache02ParticipantI an looking at that dividend and looking to buy-write.
As of writing, the sp=138.
hache02ParticipantNote that BNS CIBC and RY are having issues with Caribbean countries (ie Barbados has big debt problems with IMF bailout and debt restructuring). CIBC has most effect, if today’s globe and mail article is accurate.
hache02ParticipantI think BNS is the cheapest but maybe for a reason.
hache02ParticipantTeddi, MM
I have been doing CC in both accont types to enhance dividend returns or simulate CSP.
Works well.hache02Participantsiogia
“but I do know that the longer term trades only start working in later part of the expiration period.”
I think you nailed a reason with that statement. It is dead money until theta melting accelerates closer to expiration. Also you get better ROI on shorter expiry, I personally have been doing 3-4 weeks out since I started options.
I also look forward to Teddi’s report on this (also).
hache02ParticipantThanks Teddi
hache02Participant67 and 68
hache02ParticipantI am taking assignment of another 2000 shares for this week.
I guess this may be a long wait with beer season over.
hache02ParticipantLook forward to the article.
hache02ParticipantThat CC tool I will wait for anxiously as that is a very good strategy I am using more and more. This is esp as a dividend play, earning play and ideal to simulate CSP in our retirement accts.
hache02ParticipantFair enough, thanks
hache02ParticipantHi Teddi
I had asked you a while ago post the stock price when you post trades, or trades you are thinking about. This is for context and to see how far OTM you are going.
Is this possible?
thanks
hache02ParticipantTeddi
Why would you trade a stock you prefer not to own? If you only trade stocks you want to own, you cannot really lose.
hache02ParticipantI closed today for pennies
hache02ParticipantI sold a spread (47/43) for 21 days. Yikes a leap is far but nice safe premium though.
hache02ParticipantSold my shares yesterday for 58.61 (an extra 1000$ from assigned shares at 56.50).
I will follow you into it if it goes to 56 and I have an order for BBT this morning.
