IDK with VIX so low and Oil/socks so low, why sell Leap calls?
I have bought (for the first time) leap options lately on very low priced stocks like VIAC, WFC.

I have both of those too underwater. Thought they were cheap and got cheaper. I also have a small position in RIG. I will await Teddi’s suggestions too.

The thing that confuses me and some may be very disappointed. If you need to have bought by the 22Jan but the stock did not react 11-12 until end of day before ex-div (Jan31), then those that were buying between Jan22-Jan31st will not get the special div AND will be holding the bag at 16-17$.

What am I missing and probably why Teddi stayed away?

    Teddi and kfennira

Payment date before ex-div? ex-div does not mean normal ex-div? If you need to buy by Jan22, why didn’t it drop 12$ Jan23? Odd situation.

This is a super charged buy write one for Thursday then.

I think overnight is less risk and higher ROI.
I have been doing more and more of these in these uncertain times. Teddi will soon add or correct me.

    I did 330P out 2 weeks for 5$ Friday.

2500 for 5 weeks if it can stay above 330 (closed 328).
CSP are easy enough to roll and safe to 325.

My problem with thinking you will become well off with a small account is all the work to get sure things (as above said, you are wrong and you lose your small account fast). It won’t make it worthwhile unless you do like me – invest in DRIP (good dividend stocks), work at a good career and save (to invest) as much as you can, youth (beauty of compounding) and don’t chase fads (BYND, WEED, pennies,…).

If you are good and make more than market (as in > 8%), do the math. 15% would make you a great trader and earn you 1500$ a year. Is that worth all the work to be good?

    Teddi and all,

I started trading MFI which is down due to putting a lot in developing fake meats. They are a major porc producer in Canada and reduced trade tension in China should get MFI back on track. Also a better way to trade this fake meat fad (?).

Any thoughts. I have been buying and selling the stock as they only have monthly options.

Lots of crap groups in facebook but a few good ones that are private. Isn’t that better than Twitter?

Most of Teddi’s group are or should be on Big Cap stocks and so like minded.

I saw in the renew page, thanks.

That FB earnings trade (first but last reverse IC I will do, too much work) paid for another year and then some. The dividend buy-write are a gold mine. thanks Teddi

thanks. So you expect FB to go higher after open so you close the short first? Or this is how you generically close these usually.

I guess I just looked at my broker high level quote that shows 4$ down now but actually, is 8$ down from close. WOW again.

I see many possibility that I see or see Teddi looking at and most convince that they are too high.
Hard to find anything to trade and am currently bouncing around 33% cash for a while now.

Last fall was some wake up call and with all time highs again, I am nervous and have taken profits whenever they are good.

This week, all I found were ADM OXY and a bit of UVXY.

    Mark,

I don’t get a put either as it should drop at least the dividend the next day and oops, ITM.

I was hoping Teddi had some kind of buy write that involved getting called away the day before ex-div.
I can do the math too but was looking for how she would treat this that way.

How about you, are you trading it prior to this fat dividend, Mark?

You & TD are right, I didn’t see the 2 lines.

Wow big dividend. How do we keep both call premium, dividend and doesn’t have a big drop the next day.

Most are skyhigh and TD says the CBRL dividend it only 3$ not both the 3+ the regular.

I like only CAT and CBRL (for that 3 or 4.30 dividend. Both stock took off this afternoon.

I have tried to get TOS assignment fee of 15 with TD but they never budge but they did give me .75 per contract. Annoying is that they add 4.95 per order for options.

IB Canada charges around .75 avg with no ticket, no assignment fee and often no charge under 5 cents. I have noticed that their fees are increasing and they charge a 1$ per contract for Canadian options so now all my Canadian orders will go thru TD.

A agree with David above that IB is more difficult and error prone if not careful.

I am not worried about RTN to April18 and setup a GD (ATM) for over 2$ in premium and dividend as ex-div is Thursday.

I am on a monthly vacation in LIMA again, trading in morning, playing rest of day.

RTN ex-div tomorrow and this trade worked real well so far. 20 cents left extrinsic and so can close tomorrow .94+1.30 prem earned if this stays the same.
