    Valerie,

    1. .50 per contract, I wish TD Canada would give me that. If I do 1000 contracts per QTR, I would get 1$ a contract but my per x’n fee is 5$.

    2. MDBX is the worse company mentioned on Teddi’s paid and free site. OTC stock should have been your first clue (but perhaps it was on a regular exchange at the time). This advice should have been criminal. Hope you got a great deduction/capital loss before you moved it to your ROTH.

    3. SDOW can be googled to learn more about it and you should not consider investing until you understand the company or investment well. I have been investing in the Ultra short S&P myself (SPXS) as more diversified than the SDOW.

    4. Never buy options as you are fighting time unless doing a spread.

    my 2 cents.

    Denis

I was wondering too about why with it so high and such a high P/E, why was Teddi looking to write puts at this time.

I posted to the article before seeing your post: “Teddi and the investor, I calculate almost 20% annual return with MSFT as it is and assuming assignment on Sept 18. Tempting though I have FB, SNDK and TWTR so too much tech. thanks for an interesting writeup and suggestion.”

    thanks for the idea.

ROI about 17% on APPL, not bad. (This if left to expiry or assignment)

LOL Teddi. Yes good pension and my next job, I travelled a lot (low expenses) and had a goal of 55 (remember freedom 55) and loaded my RRSP with all the OT. Hit my goal a year early. Life is too short NOT to trade full time.

As an IT manager, I know all about computer vision syndrome. I was doing IWM daily of Teddi but I needed to watch that sucker all day long. Was not worth it.

I cross train during period from 12-3: ice hockey 1-2 times a week, tennis 1 day a week, mow the lawn, walk the dog, bike or roller blade. That keeps body and mind ready for the daily (market) grind since I retired at 54. Add daily swim at 4pm during Canadian summer mid-June to mid Sept. During winter hockey and ski does the trick.

Wondering which strategy to use with FB now that is in the 90’s and barreling to earnings July 29th (also about to touch upper BB). Anybody have FB and wondering the same thing? Teddi, Amy???

    eeash,

My DD puts have been renamed 100 DD+20 CC as in “PUT -100 DD+20CC JL@70DD1 P 17JUL15 70.00”. I haven’t received my CC shares I also have. Anyone explain the 100 DD+20 CC puts? It is obvious if Assigned I get 100DD+20CC shares. I better roll soon as who wants CC shares.

Very interesting read. I wonder how many are ready for a 40% correction? This is one of the greatest bull markets in history and still, many are getting into big trouble ( as per Teddi’s comments about helping her customers very underwater). Food for thought.

Too many are trumping their 20,30, +% profits on their portfolio when getting consistent 10% profit is great success.

    Amy,

I trade Can stocks on both NY and Tor. You need to understand the difference if you are to trade Can stocks. I agree with you on Canadian banks vs US as one is beaten up (Can) and US bank stocks are frothy IMO.

Another bonus for Canadian is using popular stocks like banks to convert Can$ to US$ and vice versa with commission called Norbert’s gambit( A better way to buy U.S. dollars).

I took GOOG vs GOOGL as GOOG was a little cheaper ($ wise) so as a short term trade, a little less risky. 520 to zero less risky than 530 to ZERO, lol.

Note that GOOG is starting their descent again so patience is the word. Maybe it will approach 525-527 so I can (re-)write another put for next week expiration.

Yes or 527.50 too, where ever I can get 6$ as I try for 500$ a week. This is based on Teddi’s AAPL bi weekly when it was 400-600$ a share.

    John,

Since the split and AAPL into extreme territory, I have been doing GOOG weeklies with great results (when it approaches 525), I try to get 600$ for 1 put out 7-10 days. Last week I closed June 19 and June 26 525 puts for 600+ profit on each. Not the wait for drop back to 525ish.

Wrote a July 10 98 call on my 520 shares for 1$. I went out until I could find 1$.

I had bought the shares 2-3 weeks ago when it was at 95.58 and am already up 1.22. Thought I would add more income or better yet, get assigned out of those shares.

at all time highs? I think SPXU is gutsier at this time plus grexit, … I use this as a hedge and keep adding shares with the previous buy -sell profits so I have gone from 500 to 1060, 1160 to last buy, 1340 shares.

I reloaded my SPSX since more stock in S&P so a bit more stable IMO. Cannot believe I got in at my all time low of 17.50.
