Hi Teddi…
I’m curious about your comment “a change in the underlying stock”. I’m an IB user too and am wondering what criteria/fields you use within the IB TWS platform that helps you identify a position in need of adjustment.
I remember you telling me about using the Ranking Tool… if a stock’s rank begins to deteriorate, then possibly it’s time to exit or adjust.
And then you have your spreadsheet to monitor your positions. I’m like this client above that wrote to you… with so many positions, it’s time consuming, for me anyway, to update the spreadsheet daily.
So… you have several methods of tracking your positions. If you can summarize to us how/when you use these methods, it would be most helpful.
Thanks and best regards,
BillbdstrayerParticipantMany thanks, Teddi!
Aloha,
BillbdstrayerParticipantHi Teddi…
I haven’t seen much activity in this portfolio lately so wanted to check in with you to see what sort of positions might be attractive to get setup.
Thanks!
Bill
bdstrayerParticipantHi Teddi…
Thank you very much for your suggestions! I’ll move forward with those, and await the next round of alerts for the Retiring Easy Portfolio.
Best regards,
BillbdstrayerParticipantHi Teddi…
I was on travel recently and wasn’t able to enter/close your last couple of AAPL trades for the Retiring Easy Portfolio. With AAPL earnings coming, I want to stand back until that event passes. So if I can’t enter an AAPL trade, what other stock(s) would you consider?
Thanks!
Bill
bdstrayerParticipantHi Teddi…
From just one person’s point of view, your idea of following a trade to its end would be immensely helpful and educational.
Bill
bdstrayerParticipantHi Teddi…
Thank you for your reply.
Bill
bdstrayerParticipantHi Mark…
Thanks for adding your posting to this thread. I appreciate your observation. I’ve been compiling a list too, mostly as trade alerts come out.
Bill
bdstrayerParticipantHi Teddi…
Just a gentle reminder. I know you have many client requests to review, but hoping to get your feedback on this when you have the chance.
Thanks very much!
Bill
bdstrayerParticipantFor those of you using TradeStation, the symbol for the tick index is $TICK. This is for the NYSE. There are a number of other tick symbols for the NASDAQ, Russell, and so on (do an INDEX search with “TICK” in the description in TradeStation). Maybe a useful one in particular for trading the SPY is the tick for the S&P 500 which is $TIKSP (are you using this one Amy?).
BillbdstrayerParticipantHi Teddi…
Ohhh… I did completely miss that article! Thank you for kindly posting the link for me.
Take care,
BillbdstrayerParticipantHi Teddi…
AMZN has been strong the past couple of sessions; just wondering if this is something to trade with your Retiring Easy strategy? Or continue to standby for more demonstrated strength in AMZN and the market overall?
Thanks and Aloha,
BillbdstrayerParticipantHi Teddi…
Will you be posting another AMZN trade for this strategy today for next week’s expiration?
Enjoyed the profit from today’s AMZN expiration!
Aloha,
BillbdstrayerParticipantHi Teddi…
Thanks for your reply!
Bill
bdstrayerParticipantHi Teddi…
It’s been awhile and wanted to check in on when the members can see your AAPL Challenge results.
Thanks and best regards,
BillApr 16 2018 at 12:22 am in reply to: Teddi, what do you use to keep track of all transactions? #54507bdstrayerParticipantFYI… if you use Interactive Brokers, they do an outstanding job to provide all the supporting information for tax preparation. I email the IB created PDF documents to my CPA and to date I’ve never had her come back to me with any questions or issues.
BillbdstrayerParticipantThank you very much, Teddi. I’ll read up on your article right away! I appreciate your time.
Bill
bdstrayerParticipantAmy, my thought as well.
Bill
bdstrayerParticipantHi Teddi…
I’m keen to know your adjustment to this trade as well, as I’m in a similar situation, but for expiration on Feb 9 AND Feb 16!
Some other positions (WBA, HON, AXP) are also in need of adjustments, so maybe your approach to UNH can be applied to these as well.
Regards,
BillbdstrayerParticipantHi Teddi…
Thank you very much for your write up. I’m glad to learn my patience was in sync with yours during the past week of volatility!
Mahalo,
BillbdstrayerParticipantHi Teddi…
I’ve got a bull put position in AAPL per your June 5 alert at the 146 level that expires tomorrow. I’ve been real patient holding this the past week, but I’m getting nervous and I’ve not seen any communications from you about the AAPL status. Can you please post an update what we should be doing with AAPL on this specific position and AAPL overall?
Thanks,
BillbdstrayerParticipantHi Teddi…
No need to do a specific write up on NFLX. I just needed to be pointed in the right direction and your link to the Nike discussion should do the job for me. I’ll read it over and it’ll probably answer my questions.
Thank you for your reply in the midst of your busy schedule.
Aloha,
BillbdstrayerParticipantHi Teddi… Yes, please do a write up on BMY for those of us stuck with losses from this trade. I did a search on your site for alerts on BMY after the Stocking Stuffer message, but didn’t find anything. When/how did you send out notice of your exit on January 5th? It would have saved me a ton of money!
bdstrayerParticipantI have questions! I’m trading it! But not really trading it by choice… I got stuck with XLE per the Super Buy/Write Strategy that didn’t have the desired outcome. Please see my postings above with my plea for help and advice over a year ago, but no further response, so I gave up seeking help.
Teddi, I hope you can give me some feedback on returning to profitability. And by the way, I’m curious why was I left to fend for myself after multiple requests?bdstrayerParticipantI see them and was just finishing reading your ideas. Thanks so much for your time and effort to put these together for us. The beauty of options: many ways to skin this AAPL cat. Sorry, I missed your earlier trade adjustments in late April that would have prevented my current situation! Anyway, since I still hold the 20May $70 strike put, I sort of wanted to stick with that expiration and so I rolled the $95 to $93.50 and even gained a wee bit of credit in the process, with my sentiment being AAPL will turn up soon. I considered taking assignment, but too capital intensive. I appreciate your helpful advice. Aloha, and Mahalo!
