Make that “I forgot the *name* of these positions”
bdstrayerParticipantHi Teddi…
Just wanted to tell you I’m excited to hear about your new feature of providing email notices on various portfolios and the trades associated with said portfolios. That will be very helpful.
I hope your SPY trades will be included in your list of portfolios (I’m referring to the bull put spreads on the SPY that go about 10 days out; I forgot the same of these positions).
Aloha,
BillbdstrayerParticipantHi Teddi…
Thank you for your fast reply. Hummm… I guess I was dreaming when I was thinking you had a referral program. Sorry!
I appreciate your kind offer and will check with my friend if he will get a 6 month or greater membership. I’ll let you know.
Happy Canada Day to you.. yesterday!
Aloha,
BillbdstrayerParticipantHi Teddi…
Thank you for your message. I placed your April 20th trade and closed it out profitably. I’ll be looking forward to your next trade!
As v8fi mentioned, can you mark these types of SPY trades with a unique tag so they appear in a special section of your website? We can easily find the current and past positions. For example, the Retiring Easy Portfolio trades section. It would be a big help!
Aloha,
BillbdstrayerParticipantHi Teddi…
Checking in to see if you might suggest a $SPY ETF Market Direction Portfolio set of trades for us?
Thank you!

BillbdstrayerParticipantHi Teddi…
Terrific! Thanks so much for posting the link here.
Aloha,
BillbdstrayerParticipantHi Teddi…
Do you have any new trades setting up here? Thanks!
Bill
bdstrayerParticipantHi Teddi…
Alrighty, I see your alert just now so will proceed with these new trades.
Thank you for your reply and follow up!
Aloha,
BillbdstrayerParticipantHi Teddi…
I sent the following inquiry last week to the FullyInformed Groups list, but perhaps it got missed. So I’ll repost here in the Forum. Thank you for your reply.

Hi Teddi…I was busy yesterday and missed entering your SPY trade. With the index higher today, what strike prices would you suggest for opening a new position?
Thank you and aloha!

bdstrayerParticipantI’m glad you pointed this ‘feature’ out. I, too, had my 387.5 strike call altered to be a 377.5 strike. I didn’t know this would happen in the case of special dividends, but I appreciate the education for the next time!

bdstrayerParticipantHi Teddi…
Terrific! Thank you.
Bill
bdstrayerParticipantHI Teddi…
Do you have some new SPY trades for us? I haven’t seen any postings for the past couple of days.
Thanks!
Bill
bdstrayerParticipantHi Teddi…
I’m joining you on your new strategy! Could I ask a favor: can you setup a specific page for this strategy and then update it with each new trade, keeping a history of past trades and their results? I’m thinking of the “VIX Index Strategy – Trades for 2020” page as an example, where you have a one stop location on your site to look at current trades, past trades, and a running tally of total return and profit to date. This way I can bookmark it and at any time I can go immediately to find the current position. Certainly continuing with an individual Trade Alert notice is important as well.
I hope this request would be reasonable and not too much extra effort. Plus I think it’s a great benefit to us following this strategy. Thank you for your consideration!
Aloha,
BillbdstrayerParticipantI’ll chime in… once you get IB up and running, you’ll love it. It’s just like filling in a spreadsheet. Very fast and efficient. As I recall, just from opening up the box, there are some templates to get started. As Teddi provided a link above, IB has excellent option tools and some good help resources. They hold live webinars every month on every aspect of their platform. I think all are archived too for on-demand viewing. I’ve been a user of IB for over 10 years, and learned something new from their classes just recently, so use them to ask questions.
While not any one vendor is perfect, I do often use TOS for analytics of options. But I would never ever trade with TOS. IB has a good commissions structure, fast execution, and a reliable platform.
When I hear of someone comparing TastyTrade/TastyWorks with IB, I call it comparing amateurs with professionals. Tasty is for hobbyists; IB is for people who are serious about trading. After you’ve been in the business for awhile (me 25+ years), the differences will be obvious.
Hope this helps.
BillbdstrayerParticipantThank you, Teddi.
I’m trying to enter a credit put spread, but difficult getting a fill; making some adjustments.
Just FYI, DG showed up on the Best Bets search today!
Bill
bdstrayerParticipantThank you, Teddi!
Bill
bdstrayerParticipantHi Teddi…
Any new ideas for this portfolio? Last trade alert was posted a month ago and closed now. Ready and armed for a new trade!
Thanks!
Bill
bdstrayerParticipantTeddi, Lisa…
It appears the email alerts are coming thru again, as of late yesterday.
I’m a user of Facebook, so if you migrate to another platform/service, that would be a good one, in my opinion.
Bill
bdstrayerParticipantHi Teddi…
Your comment caught my eye: “With Interactive Brokers they charge me no commission to close for 5 cents or less so I keep every trade with at least a 5 cents Buy To Close (BTC) offer at all times.”
I can only get zero commissions on trades for a penny, not for a nickel. May I ask, is this a negotiated rate you were able to get?
If I can get the same commission structure, that would change my portfolio risk exposure immensely, since I’m waiting much longer for my trade to go my way to close it out, not to mention freeing up capital much sooner too.
Thank you for shedding light on this.
Best regards,
BillbdstrayerParticipantHi Teddi…
I must confess I made a typo with the symbol! I intended to enter GOOGL, but discovered my error after I placed the trades. I didn’t think it would affect the strategy.
Yes, I learned GOOGL trades higher than GOOG due to it including voting rights.

bdstrayerParticipantHi Teddi…
Please allow me to recap my trades this weekend and I’ll be sure to share with you.
Thank you for your interest!
Bill
bdstrayerParticipantHi Teddi…
Overall I’ve been profitable in this portfolio; thank you! I had a little trouble with GOOGL last month, but using your guidelines I was able to roll and eventually exited this week with a gain. Yeah!
Could I ask if you might include a trade or two with stocks sub-$500 per share? I can see the good returns in GOOGL and the like, but that last GOOGL position took up such a large chunk of my available margin that I had to forgo some of your other trades in other portfolios.
Just a thought that I hope you would consider.
Aloha,
BillbdstrayerParticipantHi Teddi…
Thank you so much for taking your valuable time to write an article on this topic! It was very helpful to me to see the flow you follow. Now I feel it’s more manageable to analyze the closing or adjusting of trades.
Thanks again!
Aloha,
