Alimentation Couche-Tard Stock (ATD.B) Trades for 2014 Update

Alimentation Couche-Tard Stock entered my online Canadian Stock portfolio on May 15 2014, with the commencement of the Canadian section of my website. Alimentation Couche-Tard Stock trades on the TSX and over the counter with the symbol ATD.B. I only trade it on the TSX and not over the counter. Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc. is a convenience store operator in the United States, Europe and Canada with its head office in Laval Quebec. The Company operates its convenience store and fuel retailing chain through 6,207 convenience stores under several banners, including Circle K, Statoil, Couche-Tard and Mac’s.

In Europe, Couche-Tard operates a broad retail network across Scandinavia (Norway, Sweden, Denmark), Poland, the Baltics (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania) and Russia with 2,276 stores as at October 13, 2013, the majority of which offer fuel and convenience products. The Company has numerous revenues streams from a variety of products including everything from wireless phones to fuel for cars, trucks and marine. It also offers full convenience store products which have a higher markup value than regular grocers. With revenue of $43 billion it surpasses chains like Loblaw, George Weston, Empire and Metro and has better product markup rates. Its gross revenue surpasses all of Canada’s banks. The company did a 3 for 1 split on April 23 2014 which I think is positive for the stock.

Capital in use has fallen dramatically as the stock continues to generate above average returns from my Canadian Portfolio. This latest update includes all the latest trades and the latest adjustment to my stops made on December 30 after the stock shot up 1.6% today.

Looking at the chart below you can see that the break-out which occurred in mid-December, saw the stock shoot to an intraday high of $49.08 on December 19. This sent the stock well outside the Upper Bollinger Band. Since then the stock has pulled back allowing for another Put Selling trade on December 22. The stock remains well above the 20 day and the 50 day simple moving average (SMA).
