Earnings from Aflac which were reported this morning came in above estimates at $1.82 a share but revenue missed. Earnings improved a total of 16.7% year over year which is quite impressive and revenue grew 13.4% to $5.7 billion for the year but the outlook was for $5.8 billion in revenue.
Other issues worry investors including rising claims which were up 15.4% to $3.4 billion and total new premiums sales for the year dipped 1.8% to $324 million. Nonetheless as of September 30 2016 total investment and cash increased 22.9% to $128.9 billion and guidance for the next year was raised from $6.40 a share to $6.60.
